Memphis Movie

Memphis Movie - by Corey Mesler

Is this a story? It's written entirely in dialogue, no description, no characterization. So where is the story?

This isn't Corey's first foray into dialogue. His first novel, Talk, is written entirely in dialogue. After reading this story, I purchased a copy of Talk. Of it I can only say that when you finish reading it, you say, well, there wasn't a whole lot there, was there? But it lingers. The characters stay in your memory like memories of people you know, memories of coversations shared or overheard. The story hovers at the edge of consciousness like a situation left unresolved, like a friend you need to apologize to, like an aging aunt you haven't called in two years.

But does this dialogue format work in short form? Tell us what you think by using the comments section below.
